Hellbound is a 2D pixel art platformer consisting of a standalone boss level. Play as a mechanic doing regular maintenance in a sewer when a demon camping out chases you through the sewer into a hole to Hell. Players must run through Hell's badlands, rivers, and temples with a demon hot on their tail to make it back up to the surface.

Responsibilities

▪ Designed & completed level independently in a 10-week period with scheduled milestones and deadlines

▪ Scripted, prototyped, & polished game functionality, including sound effects, lighting, checkpoints, & menus

▪ Created all pixel art environment, prop, enemy, & player sprites, assets, & animations 

Key Features

▪ Demon chasing player that respects or ignores certain in-game obstacles for sections varying in intensity and time leeway

▪ Climbable walls, spike/acid/fire hazards

▪ Tight player path constantly pushing the player forward and preventing player from getting stuck or softlocked

▪ Death counter tracking how many tries it takes players to complete a run

▪ Respawn checkpoint once player passes entrance to Hell

▪ Controller and keyboard compatibility
